Jay Cheng - Building a Safer, More Responsive San Francisco

Jay Cheng serves as the executive director of Neighbors for a Better San Francisco, a political advocacy group he helped found in 2021. The organization works toward a high-quality, equitable public education for each child in the city. In addition, Jay Cheng works to create a city that addresses issues such as rising expenses and deteriorating street conditions.

Mr. Cheng has held public affairs positions, including deputy government affairs director of the San Francisco Association of Realtors. He assisted with the Elect Mayor Ed Lee campaign in 2011 and spearheaded the Stop the Housing Moratorium ballot measure campaign in 2015. Mr. Cheng led the successful 2022 School Board Recall and District Attorney Chesa Boudin Recall.

Focused on fiscal accountability, Mr. Cheng has been active in the Democratic Party throughout his life and serves as a board member of the Edwin M Lee Asian Pacific Democratic Club. He also volunteers as an auctioneer for several Asian Pacific Islander nonprofits.
